Work

When one has a job, it seems, they automatically hate it. At least-- by the time they've been doing it for about half of a year they do anyway. However, this part of the story isn't specifically about the kind of work one does to make money. It's mostly about the kind of work everyone has to do for at least twelve years of their lives and also the kind of work other people expect you to complete for them.

My typical day of work begins around 5:40 am. -- although this morning was exceptional, I had to go to the grocery store to buy breakfast for my early morning scripture study class. Which happens before school even begins. We get graded for how fantastic we are at waking up and sitting in the class with our scriptures open and pretending to be semi-concious.

And then, annually, all the students of the area get together and talk about how much good seminary (the name of the "infamous" early-morning-scripture-study-class) did them all through out the school year (this we call seminary graduation). When, in reality, most of these people have come and "participated" for approximately 80% (which would be a B-, mind you). Then you find yourself asking the question, If they only came 80% of the time... did they really obtain much "good" from it? But of course, is the answer. Every morning you get to start your day off with a spiritual high, which is basicially diminished to nothingness by the end of your day. And then, you get to do it again!-- for five days.

Meaning you get to participate in school, extracurriculars, church, friends, homework, parents, siblings, JOBs, go to bed around approximately midnight and do it all over again; until you graduate from highschool. Now, this may sound ridiculous to you, but on the plus side it is only for four years (of which are the busiest four years of your teenage career, naturally). So when you think about how ridiculously busy your life is, remember there is always your friendly neighborhood LDS person there to top it all. They wake up early and are happy about it.

to be continued...
