"the cloud" is when one or both of us experience general melancholy and sadness or stress or anxiety about life presently.
it should be expressed that since this has been the first episode of "the cloud" in approximately 3-6 months i have to say we are improving! this is especially true since the past 3-6 months have almost literally been a hell, of sorts.
anyway, so... the semester has ended, and i took a small break off from work so i could clean up the house and pack for our christmas vacation. Hummer, unfortunately, has a very rigorous work schedule still (because he's all grown up and has a real job where they give you paid vacation and stuff like that). if you know me at all, you know that i am a work-aholic and don't do very well when i have copious amounts of time to myself.
on this particular night of "the [bursting] cloud" i had realized my significantly more boring schedule was getting to me. (be it known, school has only been out officially for about 3 days!) suffice it to say, instead of going to bed around 10 pm we went to bed around 1 am because my cloud had officially burst (
i love my life, and my husband is such a good sport... in fact he told me that he wanted me to let all people who have husbands/male partners/significant others know--if you are experiencing "the cloud" just tell your husband/male partner/significant other to "just shut up and say_______"
in my case it was "oh just shut up and say you need me." after a couple hours of blubbering and unnecessary chatter, that was the phrase that let us both know i was okay, we were okay, and it was finally okay to sleep.
so, for what it's worth...whenever you experience your next bout of "the cloud" you now know the magic words.
my personal favorite: "just shut up and kiss me"
